Upcoming Forestry Operations

Visitors to Halfmoon Common will have noted trees marked in readiness for forestry operations this autumn. This sees the third and final phase of tree felling which has taken place upon Halfmoon in previous years.

It is anticipated that works will commence during September to mid November 2018 and will be focused within the area from the car park on Blackhill Road and southwards around Halfmoon Clump

As in previous seasons the objective is to reduce the density of pine from the common, which is well known to be both introduced and invasive upon areas of heathland.

Forestry operations will be undertaken by professional contractors supported by our own staff. The commons are open access to all; however temporary signage will be erected in work areas to notify visitors.

Temporary car park closures and exclusion zones may be set up for visitor safety when machinery is in operation.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this work please do not hesitate to contact our office on 01425650035 or email
