may have heard that National Grid’s proposals to remove the pylons from Hale

We’re waiting to see how the future direction of the project unfolds.
We
want to reassure you that we are continuing to look after this unique
environment. We know it’s close to your hearts and we appreciate the hard work
and dedication that you as a volunteer put in all year round. You are
absolutely central to everything we do.
You
might be interested to know that the land and habitat management activities
that we undertake on Hale Purlieu are set out in the Higher Level Stewardship
agreement that we have with Natural England. It also covers our other sites in
the New Forest and we have been working to it since 2009. It sets out how best
to look after the habitats through activities like controlled burning, removal
of undesirable non-native trees and shrubs and protection of historic features.
We really appreciate the help of our volunteers to enable all this to be
achieved – thank you.
